Coming back from lunch
Title:  Coming back from lunch
Description:  We were coming back from lunch, and I noticed cars sitting under the US 412 overpass. Must be a meet going on, or about to, I thought. We crossed over the tracks, looking south to see the home signal at the end of the siding lit green for the main. Good, the southbound in in the block, having passed the home signal at CP North Siloam Springs. We pulled down onto Lake Frances Drive, to find the DPU on the 261 train in the siding, and what would turn out to be the 262 not quite there yet,

Rolling by
Title:  Rolling by
Description:  The 262 now is about on the crossing at Lake Frances, and we see what is an unusual consist for a road train, a CP GP ECO and a KCD GP 40-3 trailing the leader. Maybe this is local power to be dropped somewhere?? I cant recall the last time I saw four motor power on a road train on the KCS.

Spring!!
Title:  Spring!!
Description:  We were on our way to breakfast in Gentry, taking Davidson Rd across to Ark 59, so I could check the signal. As we cross the tracks, lo and behold, it;s green. Good, something coming. Seven minutes later, we hear a horn, then a moment later, this southbound grain train rolls into view. The trees are starting to bloom, and it was nice to get one or two in the photo.

Some days there just aint much
Title:  Some days there just aint much
Description:  Many of my chases start with a visit to the transfer station in town, when I go up to drop recycling. I usually wait til the bins are way too full, so it takes a while. A lot of the time, I catch something while m there, or shortly after. Today, no such luck. After riding up and down through town, finally a clear at North Siloam Springs. It turned out to be this four unit lite power set heading north. Oh well. No big time railroading today.

Long snake
Title:  Long snake
Description:  We were coming back from Rogers, and saw a northbound grain move at Lake Frances Rd, stretched out to the south, waiting on a meet. I rushed home, dropped my wife off, loaded the recycling, and headed back. By the time I got back to town, the grain train had gone north, and this southbound oil train was in the siding, the head end at Tahlequah St, the train snaked along down past Lincoln.

Two out of three aint bad
Title:  Two out of three aint bad
Description:  The oil train was headed south, the lead power under the US 412 overpass, and not photographable, so I did the next best thing, and went to Tahlequah St to get the meet with the impending northbound, which we see approaching here, The grain train, an empty northbound, was just hitting the detector at Davidson Rd, 2 miles to the north, as I pulled up to get the first shot of this series. So I was able to get two of the three trains in this three way meet.

On the blocks
Title:  On the blocks
Description:  Theres usually not enough traffic close together that one train runs on anothers blocks. Today was one of those times, as the coal train was only a few miles behind the grain move. The northbound AEPX train takes an approach at CP North Siloam Springs, the grain move not yet in Gentry.
